piercing bumps

  • Whats a piercing bump?

A piercing bump, is a small lump that can appear after a piercing snag, to much movement, or irritation of some sort.

The most common places for piercing bumps are going to be cartilage piercings and nostril piercings. They can also be misdiagnosed as keloids.

  • what causes them?

Anatomy: If you dont have the right anatomy or the piercing angle is slanted, and the tissue is being distorted wearing the jewelry = piercing bump.

Trauma to the wound: Constant pressure caused by sleeping on or knocking or snagging on your piercing = piercing bump

Improper aftercare: The only aftercare we recommend EVER is sterile saline spray or saline wound wash/spray. Anything else is too harsh and dry our the piercing causing irritation.

Incorrect Jewelry: This includes improperly fitted jewelry such as to long or changing the jewelry out too soon

Low/poor -quality jewelry: Highly always recommend internally threaded implant-grade titanium jewelry, threadless jewelry or solid 14k gold. All are hypoallergenic and biocompatible meaning it is easier for your body to heal.
